Nebraska: New Duck Zones Proposed

The Nebraska Game and Parks is proposing a change to the duckhunting zones for the upcoming year. They are asking for input from hunters on this proposed change from now until the commissioners meet in March to vote on these possible changes.

New York Times: On Monday, USPS said that it would reduce service to cut costs. They said this move could largely eliminate the chance of next-day delivery for stamped letters. Read More
Beginning early next year, it will also cost a penny more to mail letters to any location in the United States, three cents more for post cards and five cents more for letters to Canada and Mexico. Read More

New Bird Disease in Canada's Arctic
OTTAWA — January 24th, 2011
A new bird disease has arrived in Canada's Arctic, one so lethal it can kill thousands of ducks in a dense colony in a lightning-fast outbreak.
Eider ducks stricken with avian cholera can die so fast that they remain upright on their eggs, eyes open. Some fall out of the sky, dead. Others survive unharmed, surrounded by corpses.
Now Carleton University and Environment Canada will get more than $500,000 to study the disease — which birds get it, how it spreads, why some survive, and how it arrived in the Arctic after decades of existing farther south.
