HOPE FOR ROY BOYD

Written by Ryan on .

Roy BoydIf you have been around Duck Junkies long enough you have heard the name Roy Boyd. Roy has always been someone that has stepped up and at the front of the line when we have asked for help from our staff, but a couple months ago I got a call from Roy, one of those calls you don’t want to get from a lead staffer. He told me that due to some health issues and the need to spend more time with family he needed to step down for a while as Prostaff here at Duck Junkies. One thing we have always told all our staff, Family, God and work come first, and in this case it was the truth.

Earlier this week I received a message that Roy was in the Hospital in critical condition.

During a heart operation to fix 3 heart related issues he had a aneurism in his leg. When they tried to fix that it caused a aneurism in his brain and had to have emergency brain surgery. During that surgery Roy also suffered a stroke that paralyzed his right upper body. One life threatening complication after another.

Hearing this news was hard because Roy had never said, or knew, the extend of his heart related issues. After talking to his sisters and hearing how he is fighting day by day was encouraging, but the medical bills are piling up. Cheri and Cindy started the Hope For Roy Boyd Facebook page to help their brother out so he doesn’t have to worry during his recovery about the mounting hospital bills, and the fact that they still need to do his heart surgery.

C&S Custom Calls This week on the Original Friday Night Auctions we will be donating the funds to the Hope For Roy Boyd benefit with the good help from Mike at C&S Custom Calls. Mike text me earlier in the week after he found out about Roy and said he wanted to help by donating a call to auction off. Not just any call, his never before released acrylic call the ARCHANGEL. This call has a completely redesigned tone board never done by another call maker that will channel the water and spit away from the reed making it a truly stick free reed system. The engraving on this call is amazing and on the cross features the bible verse John 14:6.

Albert Allen Also donating to the auction this week is a up coming taxidermist Albert Allen. He has offered up a standing or flying duck mount to help out Roy. The winner of this will get one free mount this coming season for themselves, or to give as a gift. There will also be a Duck Junkies bundle on Auction and we will run a few Speed Deals as well to mix it up. Auctions start at 7pm CST on the Duck Junkies Facebook Fan Page.
