I have one close friend out there stationed in the Kandahar region who is willing to distribute the book to anyone who wants one. I have set up an online fundraiser to try and raise money towards this. If you make a donation and know a soldier that would be interested in a book we will make sure they get one.
Each book will be signed and a special thank you written in the front for our troops. Any donation helps! A donation of $8.00 will cover one book for one soldier (not including shipping). Any donation made after the original 50 books are covered will go to shipping. If we get a lot of donations we will buy and send more books. I will not be making any money off of my book this way I will be purchasing them at cost. Please consider contributing!
You can get a hold of me personally if you have made a donation and you want a specific deployed soldier to recieve a copy or even if you HAVE NOT made any donations... e-mail me the soldiers information and when the fundraising amount is reached I will include them in a list of soldiers to recieve a copy. Most of these books will be given out in Afghanistan to whomever wants them...but I will send it to specific people if requested.
This is one little thing I hope to do to say Thanks! to our deployed soldiers. I lost a friend and neighbor, PFC. Ryan E.Doltz, back in 2004 when he was killed in Iraq... and doing things for our soldiers is something that has always been important to me. Please consider helping if possible!

You ever catch yourself sniffing empty shotgun shells? In the heat of battle most of my spent twelve gauges hit the bottom of the duck boat. Exceptions to the rule occur, and those are the three inch mags that I tuck in my pocket after poking at Canadian honkers. My hands shake so bad after honkers I always slowly unload the tubes and vibrate the empties into my bulging shell pockets.
It's the slow burn in a shot of whiskey that sets my mind to rewind. I raise the glass to the mutt. Then I play the same old, in my head movie, over and over. I smell the day. I feel the wind. I see the clouds. I think of the sound of roaring wings.
